When approaching non-controlled airports (most airports are non- controlled), the pilot is expected to announce the: Aircraft type, Identification number, Location, and Intentions over the universal unicom frequency of 122.8. The pattern altitude at uncontrolled airports is stipulated at 1,000 feet. A left-hand traffic pattern is to be assumed.
